Our Story
Founded in August 2024, Ginny's Apples is known for its delicious homemade stewed apples, apple pie filling and salsa.
Hey there! My name is Cheryl Merriweather and I am the owner of Ginny's Apples.
Born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, I grew up in a large Southern family where food was always at the heart of bringing people together. Some of my earliest memories include standing on a stool in her grandmother’s kitchen sifting flour for homemade biscuits and watching her mother prepare desserts for holiday dinners. Those experiences sparked a lifelong love of baking, cooking, and creating food that brings people comfort and joy.
My entrepreneurial journey began after I was laid off from my corporate job in 2013. Once known as a Master Cake Artist in Atlanta and around the nation, in 2023 I turned a beloved family recipe into my dream business…Ginny’s Apples.
The recipe dates back to my grandmother, Eloise Mosley Young, a Gainesville, GA native, who began making the family’s stewed apples around 1940. The recipe was later passed down to my mother, affectionately known as “Ginny,” who made sure holidays, family gatherings, and everyday meals were greeted by the smell of these traditional stewed apples.
Because of my steadfast passion to preserve our family legacy, from 1940 to 2026, Ginny’s Apples is known for its signature Stewed Apples, Apple Pie Filling, and Apple Peach Salsa and has been featured in the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the kitchens of William-Sonoma, local markets, and at the Atlanta History Center.
Through Ginny’s Apples, we're introducing a new generation to the food, stories, and traditions that shaped my family. From breakfast and brunch to dinner and desserts, and snacks and entertaining, our products are designed to offer the comfort of homemade food with convenience for today’s families. These authentic Southern flavors are a year-round, meal-round table staple.
Ginny’s Apples represents much more than food. This Georgia-grown treasure is a tribute to my grandmother, her mother, and the generations who gathered around the family table before her.
